Minister Sue Stultz, and MLA Sherry Wilson, and Ministre Marie-Claude Blais were on hand at the YMCA of Greater Moncton to help celebrate Wellness Week and the Wellness Movement. Minister Stultz highlighted the importance of promoting Wellness for all New Brunswick residents, and underlined upcoming events for seniors. Wellness Ambassador, Aurélie Pará also spoke about how everyone can get involved by visiting www.wellnessnb.ca and registering a commitment to wellness.

Rally Event in Grand Bay-Westfield |

The Grand Bay-Westfield Wellness Network invites Rick Hansen to make a commitment and Join the Wellness Movement at their Rally Event on Wednesday, Oct 5th! Three members of the network formed part of the Rick Hansen Relay Team that day. Participation at the Rally totalled 860 people including four schools and a preschool!

To highlight Wellness Week, a Wellness Fair was organized on Friday October 7 at the Dr Georges L-Dumont University Hospital Centre. The 4 kiosks informed health care workers about the 4 wellness pillars: mental fitness and resilience, healthy eating, physical activity, and tobacco-free living. Personnel was invited to make a commitment to wellness. Nearly 200 employees participated!

Synergies Chaleur - Passing of the Ball |

After receiving the Ball from MLA Ryan Riordon, Synergies Chaleur organized an indoor softball event on October 14th. This successful activity was organized as part of the Join the Wellness Movement initiative. Upon completion of the activity, they took advantage of their Halloween costume party that on October 28th to pass the ball to the Bathurst Curling Club who will organize the Stothart Toyota Heart Smart Open Family Curling every Sunday from 4 to 6 pm. This weekly event encourages the community to come out and curl, giving the participants the opportunity to make a wellness commitment.

Live, work, play…be well Workplace Wellness Initiative |

To celebrate Wellness Week, October 1-7th, 2011, as part of the Government of New Brunswick’s Live, work, play…be well Workplace Wellness Initiative, the Regional Wellness Committee for the Department of Social Development, launched a friendly competition amongst all employees within their department. The team with the highest number of hours of physical activity for the week came out the winner! In total, 9 teams out of 10 participated, a total of 75 employees. A bonus prize was given to Michèle Ouellette who appears in the photo with Marie-Josée LeBlanc, committee representative. To win, participants had to participate in the “Vote my Fundy” Challenge and vote for the Bay of Fundy as one of the 7 wonders of the world. http://www.votemyfundy.com/
