About 79% of new moms in New Brunswick start breastfeeding after birth. However, only about 21% of babies are still exclusively breastfed at the 6-month mark. Proactive support from partners has been identified as instrumental in helping mothers on their breastfeeding journey. This factsheet aims to provide partners with information on the health benefits of exclusive breastfeeding for babies and their mother, and present a few suggestions on ways to provide proactive support in order to help mothers breastfeed for as long as possible.

This factsheet was created as part of the awareness campaign “Working Together Makes Breastfeeding Better”.
